Privacy policy

How your data is collected, used, and handled. Your choices, explained.

Last updated November 1, 2026

1. Who we are and what this covers

DashTalk is operated by DASHTALK TECHNOLOGIES (Panipat, Haryana, India 132103). This Privacy Policy covers the DashTalk website and the DashTalk mobile apps for iOS and Android. It explains what personal data we collect, how we collect it, what we use it for, and every third party we share it with.

For privacy questions, or to exercise any of the rights described in section 8, contact privacy@dashtalkai.com.

2. Data you give us directly

  • Conversation content — the messages you type and the reply history of each conversation.
  • Voice recordings — voice notes you record and audio from live voice calls.
  • Profile details — the nickname you choose, your chat language, what you tell us you are using DashTalk for, and any optional details you add (age range, occupation, a short introduction).
  • Photos you send in chat — a photo you take with the in-app camera or choose from your gallery and send to a companion, together with any caption. We only receive a photo when you choose to send it. Sending photos is a paid feature. The camera is used only while you have it open, and only to take a photo you can review before sending.
  • Custom characters — photos, clips, names, bios, voices and behaviour settings you create or upload.
  • Account details — if you sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple returns and, where you allow it, your email address. You can use DashTalk as a guest without signing in.
  • Support messages — anything you send us by email.

3. Data collected automatically

  • Device and app data — device model, operating system version, app version, language and region.
  • Identifiers — an app-generated account identifier, and a push notification token so companions can reach you when the app is closed.
  • Advertising identifier — on Android, the Google Advertising ID, used for install attribution and ad measurement. On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asks your permission first; only if you allow it is the IDFA used, for the same purpose. If you decline, installs and purchases are measured only in aggregate through Apple's SKAdNetwork.
  • Usage events — screens opened, features used, purchases completed, and similar product analytics.
  • Diagnostics — crash reports and error logs.
  • Network data — your IP address, which our hosting provider necessarily processes to deliver responses and to protect against abuse. We derive your country and time zone from it so companions can talk about your day at the right time.

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple and Google. We receive confirmation that a purchase or renewal happened, and never see your card or bank details.

4. How we use your data

  • To generate companion replies, voice notes, transcriptions and live voice calls.
  • To look at a photo you send so your companion can respond to it, and to check that the photo is allowed.
  • To keep conversation continuity, so a companion remembers earlier context.
  • To deliver notifications you have enabled.
  • To operate subscriptions, Energy balances and daily limits.
  • To detect abuse, filter harmful content, and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • To measure how features are used so we can improve the product, and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising.
  • To respond to your support requests and comply with legal obligations.

5. AI services that receive your conversations

DashTalk companions are AI. To produce a reply, speak it aloud, or understand a voice note, your conversation content has to be sent to AI services operated by Google. The app asks for your permission on a dedicated screen, with Allow and Don't Allow, before anything is sent, and nothing is sent to these services unless you allow it. You can review that screen at any time in the app under Profile → AI & Your Data.

What is sent: messages you type and your recent conversation with the companion; voice notes you record and your voice during live calls; photos you choose to send in a chat, with their captions; your nickname, chat language, country and local time; optional profile details you add (age range, occupation, short introduction); the companion's persona; and short notes the companion has remembered from earlier chats.

  • Google LLC (Gemini, through Google Cloud Vertex AI and the Gemini API) — our AI provider. It generates replies, looks at photos you send, produces voice notes, transcribes your voice notes, and carries live voice calls. See the Google Privacy Policy.

Google processes the data only to produce the reply, voice or transcript requested, under contractual terms that require Google to protect it to a standard equal to this policy and not to disclose it further. Your email address, Apple ID, payment details, contacts, precise location, device identifiers, and photos you have not sent in a chat are never sent to it. If you choose Don't Allow, companions cannot reply, but nothing is shared.

6. Other service providers

  • Google Firebase — Cloud Messaging delivers push notifications on Android, Firebase Analytics records usage events, and Crashlytics records crash diagnostics.
  • Meta Platforms — the Facebook SDK receives app events (such as installs, app opens and purchases) and your app account identifier for advertising measurement and attribution. On iOS it receives the IDFA only if you allow tracking. It never receives your conversations.
  • Apple — App Store billing, Sign in with Apple, and push delivery on iOS.
  • Cloudflare — hosts our backend and database, and processes your IP address in doing so.

Each provider is bound by contractual terms requiring protection equivalent to this policy. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers.

7. What we never do

  • We never sell your personal data.
  • Photos, clips and custom character settings you create, and photos you send in a chat, are visible only to your account. They are never shown to other users and never posted publicly.
  • Your conversations are never shared with other users.
  • Your email address and payment details are never sent to an AI provider.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a particular purpose. You can withdraw your consent to AI processing at any time — note that this ends your ability to use the companion features, since they cannot function without it.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, we rely on your consent for AI processing and on our legitimate interests for security, abuse prevention and product analytics, and you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you are in California, we confirm that we have not sold or shared personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.

To exercise any right, email privacy@dashtalkai.com. We respond within 30 days.

9. Deleting your data

You can clear a companion's chat memory or delete a custom character at any time from inside the app. To remove everything, open Profile → Account → Delete Account, to request deletion of your conversations, custom characters, uploaded media and profile.

You can also request deletion by emailing privacy@dashtalkai.com from the address on your account. Account removal and erasure of retained copies are separate steps. Contact us for the status of your request or questions about retained data. Purchase records may be retained where tax or accounting law requires it.

10. How long we keep data

Conversations, voice notes, photos you send and custom characters are kept until you delete them or close your account. Usage analytics are retained in aggregated form. Diagnostic logs are retained for up to 90 days. After you request account deletion, the process in section 9 applies.

11. Age requirement

DashTalk is strictly for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete the account and its data. If you believe a minor is using DashTalk, contact privacy@dashtalkai.com.

12. International transfers and security

Our providers operate globally, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers out of the EEA or UK rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit, and stored data is encrypted at rest. Access is limited to personnel who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or add a new third party that receives your data, we will update this page, change the date at the top, and ask for your consent again inside the app where the law requires it.
